The Republic of Azerbaijan is located in the South Caucasus, west of the Caspian Sea basin. The area is 86.6 thousand square km, the population is about 10 million people. The capital is Baku. The main industrial cities are Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Mingachevir, etc.

 

The Republic of Azerbaijan borders with the Russian Federation in the north, Georgia in the northwest, Armenia in the west and southwest, Turkey in the west and Iran in the south. It borders with Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iran and Russia in the Caspian sector.
