Output and exports grow in industrial areas

Industrial zones have an important role to play in the development of the country's non-oil sector, a competitive industry based on ground-breaking and high technologies, and in ensuring the level of employment.

 

To date, 89 business entities have been granted resident status in industrial zones, of which 55 have already started their businesses. Entrepreneurs have invested over 6.2 billion manat in industrial zones and created about 9.5 thousand jobs so far. At the next stage of existing projects, it is planned to additionally invest 400 million manat in industrial zones and create about 2,000 jobs.

 

So far, products worth 5 billion manat have been produced in industrial zones, of which 1.4 billion manat (about 28 percent) were exported.

 

Positive dynamism is observed in the production and export of products in industrial zones. According to statistics, in 9 months of 2020, product worth 977 million manat were manufactured in industrial zones, while in 9 months of 2021, the production grew by 56.7% (1.5 billion manat). Exports increased by 102.6% (doubled) compared to the same period in 2020 (269 million manat) and amounted to 545 million manat.

 

Following the results of 9 months of 2021, the share of industrial zones in the non-oil sector of the country's industry was 14.2% with a production volume of 1.5 billion manat, and its share in the export of non-oil industrial products amounted to 25.9% (545 million manat).

 

The products of the industrial zones are exported to more than 30 countries around the world.

 

Note that industrial zones made a favorable investment climate available for entrepreneurs. Thus, residents of industrial parks are exempt from property tax, land tax, tax on income or profits for 10 years from the date of registration, and from VAT on the import of machinery, technological equipment and machines imported for production purposes, and customs duties for 7 years.
