The Ministry of Economy organized a press tour to the Vocational Education Center of the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park on January 12.

Yadullah Babayev, Acting Director of the Center, made the media aware of the activities of the Center.

Mr. Babayev informed that the Vocational Education Center was opened on September 14, 2020 with the participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. With 6 buildings, the Center is designed to teach 500 students. The buildings include 23 classrooms, 13 laboratories, a library, a computer class, an assembly hall, a canteen, a gym and administrative premises.

The Vocational Education Center is the first educational institution established on the territory of the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park and is fully covered by industrial enterprises. Students of the educational institution regularly participate in internship programs at these enterprises and improve their theoretical knowledge on a practical basis. Most of the lecturers working at the Center are professional engineers of these industrial enterprises.

While, in the first academic year (2020-2021), the Vocational Education Center trained personnel in 5 specialties, the number of specialties where personnel training is carried out reached 8 in the 2021-2022. Currently, the Vocational Education Center teaches more than 150 students majoring in turning and milling machines operator, software-controlled machine operator, industrial installation fitter, electrician for maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, automation technician, agricultural service specialist, HVAC systems and equipment installer, web designer and software developer. The study period lasts 1 year, and admission is by interview. People with complete secondary education take part in the interview. Scholarships are provided to government-funded students during the period of study.

The Vocational Education Center cooperates with many industrial enterprises. Appropriate measures are being taken to provide jobs for the knowledgeable students of the Center in the cooperating industrial enterprises, who actively attend practical classes.

Media representatives became familiar with the conditions available at the Vocational Education Center, with the educational process, laboratories, etc., and took part in the internship program undergone by the students at Azertechnoline LLC, a resident of the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park.
