Ambassador of Colombia to Azerbaijan and Chargé d'Affaires of Chile in Azerbaijan visited Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park

Luís Antonio Dimaté Cárdenas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Colombia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as Gabriel Jara Maldonado, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Chile in the Republic of Azerbaijan visited Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park.

 

During the meeting Nazim Talibov, director of Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park LLC, provided the guests with information on industrial parks created in accordance with the industrialization policy implemented in our country to give new impetus to the development of competitive industry based on innovative and high technologies, ensure sustainable development of the non-oil sector, increase the country's attractiveness for domestic and foreign investments, and employment in the manufacturing sector. It was noted that at the moment there are 5 industrial parks in the country, and the work on increasing the number of these parks is successfully continued. As a result of conditions created by the state in industrial parks, there is a growing interest of local and foreign entrepreneurs. Residents of industrial parks are exempted from VAT, customs duties and taxes on income, property, land for 7 years, as well as import of machinery, technology and equipment. To date, 20 residents have been registered in Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park, the largest industrial park in the South Caucasus, and 13 residents have already begun production. The products of these residents along with the domestic market are exported to world markets under the trade mark “Made in Azerbaijan”. The export directions are CIS countries, Turkey, Iran, Georgia, Ukraine, USA, Japan, UAE and Europe.

 

Finally, issues of mutual interest were discussed and the questions addressed were answered.

 

Then the guests became acquainted with the work implemented in Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park, and cigarette production (tobacco products) process in Tabaterra CJSC which is the residents of the Park.
